Failure of IELTS student in Writing module

It is obvious that IELTS candidates are across writing module because of frequent drop out of majority of students in the same module in final tests. It is common saying that nip the evil in the bud. While an IELTS student during practice session makes a lot mistakes related to format and task achievement but unfortunately trainers ignore their mistakes and the same are transferred to final test. There are two versions of IELTS i.e. Academic and General. In Academic version, there are two tasks one is essay whereas the other one is graph, picture or pie chart. On the other hand, IELTS General consists of an essay and a letter. Let’s understand what is meant by understanding IELTS task.

Possible mistakes an IELTS student can make in this writing task are as follows;-


It is not certain whether every student can understand term Community Policing.- Use of relevant lexical resources for the writing task.- Coherence might suffer here because balance handling up to the mark could be inappropriate.- It is really hard to conclude as per standard.- Grammar and Spell mistakes Sentence structure could be below average.

Cause and effect Essay

Cause and effect essays are concerned with why things happen (causes) and what happens as a result (effect). Cause and effect is a common method of organizing and discussing ideas.

Topic:-

Explain you’re like or dislike of a particular book or writer, movie, musician or television program.- Explain your interest or lack of interest in sports or a specific sport.- What effect and after-math can have the vanishing of the animal and plant species?


Comparison & Contrast Essay

In comparison and contrast essay the students have to compare two things, problems, events or ideas and evaluate their resemblances and differences. This type of an essay advances and develops your critical thinking as well as your argumentation and understanding of the importance of the events and things that you compare. Here are the examples of several topics, where compare/contrast parts should be included.


- You are about to enter the university. You’ve visited a lot of open days and you are not quite sure about your ultimate decision. There are two major universities you like most. Compare and contrast everything you’ve heard and everything you know about these two educational establishments.- You are going to your summer vacation. You’ve already chosen a gorgeous resort for your vacation, but hesitate about the kind of transport you’ll take for your trip. You are not quite sure what way of traveling is more comfortable and suitable: a bus or an airplane. Compare and contrast these two means of transportation.


Descriptive Essay

A description essay turns you into a creative artist. The pen transforms into a magic paintbrush which paints a capturing picture of the described object. In your description essay you may depict some place, event, and person, anything that is significant to you and will be interesting to the readers. Basically you are free to describe anything you want, just does it well.

Narrative Essay

As a mode of expository writing, the narrative approach, more than any other, offers writers a chance to think and write about themselves. We all have experiences lodged in our memories, which are worthy of sharing with readers. Yet sometimes they are so fused with other memories that a lot of the time spent in writing narrative is in the prewriting stage.


Topic:-

Last year you had choice to either to go to USA or to CANADA. Your parents were interested in USA. How could you say, my parents were right?


Persuasive Essay

The main aim of persuasive essay is to show the argument is true. It attempts to convince the read that your point of view is more legitimate than others. Once you have developed some argument, you should back it up with available evidence and examples.

Process &Analysis Essay

A process is a series of actions leading to an expected or planned outcome. There are two types of process essays: Those that either give instructions or direct those that explain or analyze.


Directional process essays tell how to do something. For example, a directional process might explain how to find an apartment. The purpose of this type of essay is to clarify the steps in the procedure so that the reader can re-create the steps and the results. An informational process essay explains or analyzes a process- it tells how something works, how something happened or how something is or was done. For example, you could explain how World War II began or how hurricanes form.


The informational process essay has a purpose different from that of a directional process essay. It is a main purpose is to inform, explain, or analyze. The reader is gaining an understanding of the process; he or she does not necessarily expect to be able to recreate the process. Although process essays that explain or instruct have different purposes, they can be developed by using the same pattern of development and organization.
